In a one-week drive for funds to raise funds to help provide relief to victims of the Haiti earthquake, Beaumont Independent School District students and employees raised $12,769.49. Several representatives were on hand today to receive the donations to the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the Clinton/Bush Haiti Fund. With campaign appeals that ranged from Dunbar’s “Drive by for Haiti” to Marshall’s “Hands and Hearts for Haiti” and Central’s “Change for Haiti,” students rallied in a big way to help the earth quake victims.

“The short time frame, the passionate response and the creative ways our students reached out to and continue to reach out to those suffering in Haiti makes me more proud than words can say. What an exemplary mindset! Imagine, this was an immediate and brief appeal. Many schools have projects and programs that continue through February. Our students are amazing,” said BISD Superintendent Carrol A. Thomas.
