The Beaumont Children’s Museum’s, “Hometown Artist Days” is featuring Beaumont’s own graphics artist, director, author and illustrator Kelly Asbury March 18 – 19. Asbury will visit and provide art education services for the children and aspiring artists in the area as he shares his expertise.
Asbury was educated in Beaumont public schools, attending Edwards Elementary, Bowie Junior High, and French High School respectively. He received his higher education attending Lamar University.
The highlights of Asbury’s visit will include a children’s art fair to include all elementary schools for the purpose of identifying “budding artists.” School visits for art classes will take place at Southerland Headstart, French and Field elementary schools, Odom Academy and Smith Middle School. An “Aspiring Artist” seminar for area middle school, high school and college students will be held at Lamar University. A “Meet the Artist” reception will be held in the BISD boardroom.
