Do Your Children Qualify for Free or Reduced Price School Meal Benefits?
Beaumont Independent School District’s Child Nutrition Department will begin accepting applications for the Free and Reduced Meal Program Monday, August 2, 2010, in the Frank Planetarium, 3370 North Street. Hours of service are from 8:00 until 4:00, Monday through Friday.
A meal application must be completed each school year for all students who wish to apply. Eligibility is based on household income to determine participation at the free or reduced price for breakfast and lunch. Parents are encouraged to come to the Frank Planetarium for assistance or log on to the Beaumont ISD website to complete an on-line meal application, www.bmtisd.com.
Applications will be provided to each student August 23, 2010, the first school day; however only one application per household must be returned.
Last year’s meal status (free, reduced or paid) carries over for the first thirty (30) calendar days beginning August 23, 2010. October 4, 2010 is the final day to eat a free or reduced priced meal based on last year’s status. After that time, students without a current year meal application will be required to pay for their meals.
Meal prices this year are $0.00 for breakfast for all BISD students; $1.75 for lunch for elementary students and $2.00 for secondary. Reduced priced meals are $0.40 for lunch for both elementary and secondary students.
Beaumont ISD processes only one application per family. Only one (1) application per household must be completed even if students attend different schools.
