BISD Convocation--"Deal!"

Working for the Beaumont Independent School District is the best deal around according to many of the estimated 3,000 employees who showed up today for the 2010-2011 Back to School Convocation where employees received incentive pay checks for $2.8 million! BISD Superintendent Dr. Carrol A. Thomas, gave a rousing standing ovation state of the district address, introduced new and recently promoted employees to the festive crowd and announced and introduced principals of the 14 Texas Education Agency exemplary rated schools and nine recognized rated schools. Staff members marched out more than 40 gold brief cases that held checks ranging from $100 to more than $5,000 for individual employees. Modeled after the popular “Deal or No Deal” television show, employees immediately yelled “DEAL” as their co-workers stood holding gold numbered cases.
