Patrice Rabalais, Transition Counselor for the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, works diligently to help students with disabilities to prepare for work, a career, and living more independently after high school. She worked 31 years as a special education classroom teacher in South Park/ Beaumont ISD. Ms. Rabalais has a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Lamar University. She worked as a special education teacher in South Park/Beaumont ISD for 31 years. Patrice serves on several committees and volunteers her time to several organizations that work to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities. Ms. Rabalais is committed to working with students and families to help them discover the appropriate employment opportunities so that they can function as independently as possible.
Callie Trahan, Director of Services for Students with Disabilities @ Lamar University, has assured academic access for students with disabilities at Lamar University since December 1991. Ms. Trahan has a bachelor of Social Work from Lamar University and a master of Social Work from the University of Houston. Callie serves on several university and community committees that focus on access for individuals with disabilities. Ms Trahan shares transition information to high school students, parents, and counselors in hopes students with disabilities will be better prepared for the higher education experience.
