Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

  • Morning Drop Off Procedure:

Student drop off, 7:30 a.m. -8:03 a.m. is in the back near the cafeteria and are not allowed to be dropped off in the front.   Please be aware that students should be in their room at 8:05 a.m. ready to begin the day. Please form a single line only and drop off students next to the curb.   It is unsafe for students to move across lanes in front of cars. Students will wait in the cafeteria. They may choose to eat breakfast or read quietly. At 7:45, students will be released to their classrooms for early morning enrichment or intervention. Therefore, we stop drop off in the back at 8:03 a.m. which will give students about 2 minutes to get to class. If your child arrives at school later than 8:03, please park and walk your child into the office, and wait until your child receives a tardy pass.

    Afternoon Dismissal Procedure:

Busses and day care providers will load students in the back driveway near the cafeteria. Students riding the bus or day care van will wait in the cafeteria. Teachers will be supervising students as they wait.

All other students will be car riders only and will load from the front lane. The front lane is longer than the back pick up lane, and we are able to triple the number of cars picking up at once. Cars will enter the front lane from Voth Road and will only be allowed to turn right. Allowing cars to turn either way from Voth into the pickup lane causes congestion.   Car riders will wait in their rooms until their name is called. Kindergarten and first grade students will wait in a room closer to the front of the building so they will not have so far to travel once their name is called. We will give you a Parent Pick Up Tag to hang from your visor. Please write your child’s name in large print on the tag and display it in the front window. As another safety measure, your child will only be released to the car with Parent Pick Up Tag.  A team member will be calling names as you drive through the front lane. Your child will walk to the front porch and wait until you pull up. Your child will then be able to move to your car and load in a safe manner. We will have ample supervision on the front porch as well as in the building. While I realize that we have double lanes in the front, for the safety of your child, we only utilize the lane closest to the curb. It is not safe for your child to cross in front of other cars even with an escort. Also, you may use the outside lane for leaving once you have picked up your child. With patience and cooperation, this procedure works quite well.   We will begin calling for cars at 3:25. Once we get the system moving smoothly, you should have to wait no longer than 15-20 minutes in the car line.  I understand that the car pick up line can be very long. However, it flows smoothly with everyone working together.

While we ask that all appointments be made as late as possible, we understand that, on occasion, you may need to pick up your child early. If it is necessary for you to pick up your child early from school, the latest time that you may pick up your child is 3:00 p.m. After 3:00 p.m., please move to the car pick up line and follow the dismissal procedure.   The reason we have a 3:00 p.m. cut off is due to teachers wrapping up the days lessons, handing out information that needs to go home, and students are finalizing their homework and assignment needs.

Again, for the safety of all students, students will be allowed to leave school by bus, day care van or car pick up. Parent walk onto campus to pick up students after 3:00 will not be allowed. Also, students will only be released to autos where the Parent Pick Up Tag is displayed.

All student walkers will need to have a signed form on file in the office listing home address. You may pick up the form at the front office.
