    PreK4

    The Texas Legislature determines eligibility requirements for free, public prekindergarten in Texas. Beaumont ISD offers a free, prekindergarten program for eligible students who turn 4 years of age on or before September 1st of the school year in which they intend to enroll.

Please ensure you allot time to fully complete the application in one setting as information will not be saved if you exit prior to submitting the form. Additionally, once the form is submitted you will not be able to go in and make changes to the information entered. What school will my child attend?

    The district strives to ensure students attend their zoned school based on the proof of residency provided by the parent/guardian. Unlike Kindergarten and other grade levels, Beaumont ISD does not offer PreK4 classes at every elementary campus. However, there will be a spot in the program for any student who is eligible for prekindergarten. Students will attend PreK4 at the campus that serves their elementary zone based on the home address of the parent/legal guardian. In the event of limitation of enrollment at a campus due to space/staffing constraints or in the event the student requires special instructional services which are not available at the zoned campus, students may be assigned to attend classes at another district campus as applicable.

  • MAY A CHILD WHO IS 5 YEARS OLD ON SEPTEMBER 1 BE ENROLLED IN PREK4?

    Posted by:

    A child who is 5 years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year is eligible for and generally enrolled in Kindergarten. However, Senate Bill 1697, recently passed in the 87th Texas Legislative session, does provide parents/guardians the right to opt for their child to:

    1. repeat prekindergarten;
    2. enroll in prekindergarten if the child was eligible to enroll in prekindergarten in the previous school year, under TEC, §29.153(b), and has not yet enrolled in kindergarten;

    These decisions should be discussed with school administrators to ensure the best decision is made for your student.

  • MY CHILD WILL TURN FIVE SHORTLY AFTER SEPTEMBER 1. CAN HE/SHE GO TO KINDERGARTEN INSTEAD OF PREK4?

    Posted by:

    TEA and Texas public schools are governed by the Texas Education Code (TEC). A child must be at least five years of age on September 1 of the school year. A student younger than five years of age is entitled to the benefits of the Foundation School Program (i.e. kindergarten) if: (1) the student performs satisfactorily on the assessment instrument administered under Section 39.023(a) to students in the third grade; and (2) the district has adopted a policy for admitting students younger than five years of age.
