    Beaumont ISD is continuing to offer two insurance plans. You now have the option to
    choose the TRS plan or the Texas Schools Health Benefits Program (TSHBP). This
    additional option gives you nationwide coverage and is "co-pay only" (as long as you
    stay within network).


    Example:
    Cost to an employee who has an overnight stay at the hospital for surgery


    TRS Active Care:
    Surgery Total Cost  =  $10,000
    Deductible  $1,200 plus 20% Co-insurance = $1760
    Total Paid by BISD Employee = $2960
     
    TSHBP Plan:
    Surgery Total Cost  =  $10,000
    Deductible  $500  (no coinsurance at any time)
    Total Paid by BISD Employee = $500
     
    We are urging all employees to take the time to use one of the methods posted below to
    educate themselves on how the medical plans are going to work this year. We cannot
    stress enough that the TRS plans now act like an HMO and employees can only make
    an appointment with a specialist if their primary care provider (which you will be required
    to elect) approves it. Please see the information below to make an informed decision.
