The military connection between schools and families is pertinent for the success of students who are dependents of a partent/guardian who are currently in the military.  At Curtis Elementary School, we are committed to supporting military students by:  educating our staff members and providing activities to recognize and honor our nation's youngest heroes.  Additionally, our campus goal is to meet the needs of our military families, as we strive to be designated as a Purple Star Campus by the Texas Education Agency. 

The Purple Star Campus Designation was created by the 86^th Texas Legislature through SB 1557 and further described in agency rule (19 TAC, § 61.1063), effective April 9, 2020. This special honor recognizes Texas districts and charter schools that show their support and commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families.  It further shows that this campus is a military-friendly campus and has specifically trained its staff to understand, help transition, and support our military students.
