Transfer of a child of an Active Duty Peace Officer or Service Member
Recent legislation, HB 1959 and HB 2892 provide for the transfer, at the request of an active duty service member or peace officer, of a student they are the parent of or standing in parental relationship with the child, to the district or campus selected by the qualifying service member or peace officer. Beaumont ISD already offers transfer opportunities for students who reside both within and outside BISD during a designated time each year. The advantages of this legislation offering transfers to children of Peace Officers and Service members are that they are not subject to a specific window or deadline. Additional credentials and documentation above that of a general transfer must be provided for this category of transfer.
