CTE Advisory Council
The role of the advisory council is to participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of CTE programs, including establishing effective programs and procedures to enable informed and effective participation in CTE programs.
The advisory council includes parents, representatives of business and industry (including small businesses), and to the extent possible; labor organizations, higher education representatives and staff, administrators, representatives of special populations, CTE and academic teachers, students, and community partners.
In addition, the advisory council supports CTE initiatives and promotes programs to industry and community.
This partnership provides the following opportunities:
- Attendance at the advisory council meetings
- Advise the district in short and long-term planning
- Serve as a guest speaker
- Participate in classroom and student leadership activities
- Advise the district of current job needs, trends, and the relevance of courses offered
- Provide Work-Based Learning (WBL) activities and experiences, such as internships
- Participate in:
- CTE Choice Awards
- CTE Mock Interviews
- CTE Industry Connections: Introductions and Interviews
- CTE Signing Day
- Recommendation of industry-standard equipment and training
- Provide training sessions for teachers and students
- Serve as a mentor
- Sponsor events if possible, but not mandatory
- Recognition at CTE events and programs
- Facilitate community support and engagement for CTE
As we continue to prepare our students for the REAL world in a REAL way, partnerships are necessary as we equip and position our students to enter the workforce.
