Sticking the landing on a season of hard work, Beaumont Independent School District gymnasts have punched their tickets to the state meet, set for April 24–25 at Permian High School.

For Beaumont United High School’s boys team, sophomore Aeden Simon qualified on vault, while Nehemiah Levy advanced in vault, floor exercise and horizontal bar. Tre’Vion Humphrey earned an all-around berth and will compete in all six events. On the girls side, Beaumont United’s Mallory Walker was selected as an alternate.

West Brook High School will be strongly represented by Amiyah Harrison, Autumn Boswell and Taraji Placide, who each qualified as all-around competitors.

“We are extremely proud of these athletes and their hard work, dedication, and commitment throughout the season,” said Beaumont United gymnastics coach Anthony Moore Jr. “We look forward to representing our district at the state meet.”

Athletes reflected on the journey that led them to qualify. “Made it to state — every setback and comeback led me here,” Boswell said. “Genuinely proud of my resilience and perseverance.”

“It’s always amazing when an opportunity like this comes because that’s how you know your hard work paid off,” Levy said.

“With gymnastics, your only competition is who you were yesterday,” Harrison said. “That’s why it’s not about being the best, it’s about being better than you were before.”

“Getting to state isn’t just luck — it’s the result of every early morning, late practice and sacrifice,” Humphrey said.

The state meet will bring together top gymnasts from across Texas to compete for individual and team honors. The meet will begin with scheduled workouts and coaches meetings, followed by competition sessions.
