Community, Connection, and a Touch of Adventure at BISD Family Fun Day

Music in the air, laughter all around, and smiles at every turn—Beaumont ISD’s Family Fun Day felt like a celebration, but it delivered something even more meaningful: genuine connections that brought families and the community closer together.

Students, parents, staff, and community partners showed up in a big way on Saturday, March 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, enjoying an afternoon packed with student performances, games, inflatables, and door prizes that kept the energy high from start to finish. A helicopter appearance courtesy of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office quickly became a crowd favorite, giving families a moment they will be talking about for a while.

While the event felt like a celebration, it also had a deeper purpose. Family Fun Day expanded on the district’s monthly apartment complex outreach visits, bringing the same support, resources, and relationships into one shared space.

“This event was truly special,” said Henrietta Savoy, BISD ROAR Coordinator and Parent Engagement Facilitator. “It did my heart good to hear families share how much they needed and appreciated these resources. Being able to bring everything together in one place made an even bigger impact.”

The district partnered with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for the second year, along with several sponsors and community partners who helped make the event possible. Their support helped create a welcoming environment where families felt comfortable, connected, and supported.

Throughout the day, the sense of community was clear. Families spent time together, students had fun, and meaningful conversations took place that will carry beyond the event. Learn more about Beaumont ISD parent and community engagement opportunities by visiting https://www.bmtisd.com/family.
