ROAR-ing with Service: Savoy Celebrated as BISD’s December Employee of the Month

Henrietta Savoy, ROAR Coordinator and Parent Liaison for Beaumont ISD, was named the district’s December 2025 Employee of the Month following a surprise presentation on December 12.

Savoy was nominated by BISD Instructional Technology Coordinator Denise Shaffer, who cited Savoy’s tireless work ethic, positive spirit and far-reaching impact across the district.

Savoy spends her days traveling from campus to campus supporting volunteers, checking flags and even repairing book vending machines—always with a welcoming smile and a readiness to help. Known for her “how can I help?” attitude, Savoy approaches every task with care and commitment, regardless of size, if it benefits students.

Her dedication extends well beyond the school day. Savoy regularly attends community events after hours to promote reading, share valuable resources and connect families with tools to support student growth. She is widely recognized for her ability to bring people together and strengthen the bridge between schools and the community.

Savoy is also known as one of BISD’s strongest advocates for literacy and community involvement. She consistently encourages city council members, firefighters, business owners and other community leaders to visit campuses and read with students. Her enthusiasm and belief in the power of literacy have inspired countless partners to get involved.

“Henrietta’s work goes far beyond her job description,” Shaffer said in her nomination. “She leads with heart, serves with joy and uplifts the entire district through her passion and dedication. BISD shines a little brighter because of her.”

Savoy received a commemorative plaque and $350 in prizes donated by community sponsors.

The BISD Employee of the Month program recognizes staff members who exemplify the district’s core values of service, integrity and excellence. The program is supported by Chick-fil-A, Hernandez Office Solutions, World Gym, Neches Federal Credit Union, Jason’s Deli, 100 Black Men of Greater Beaumont, Next Level Urgent Care, Raising Cane’s, Farmer’s Insurance–Claudia Aguilar, Education First Federal Credit Union, and Southeast Texas Stages.
