Guidance Curriculum

School counselors will work with campus administration and staff to provide whole group guidance curriculum lessons in accordance with our adopted curriculum Core Essentials and additional topics, as needed. These lessons will focus on a different theme each month and assist with the social and emotional development of all students.

Elementary

Middle School

Each middle school counselor will provide one guidance lesson monthly that corresponds to the assigned theme and provide daily announcements to announcers. Counselors will also cover additional topics such as transitioning to middle and high school, career interests, and high school 4-year planning. Students will be urged to participate in the lessons and activities, while teachers will also be encouraged to reinforce themes within the classroom.

High School

Lead high school counselors will provide guidance lessons each month for teachers to access during advisory periods. Counselors will assist with the facilitation of lessons as needed and provide daily announcements to announcers. Announcements and lessons will correspond with assigned themes. Additionally, counselors will rotate into classes and conduct guidance sessions once each quarter covering various topics such as transitioning to high school, how to read and understand high school transcripts, future course planning, and college and career preparation. Students will be urged to participate in the lessons and activities, while teachers will also be encouraged to reinforce themes within the classroom.
