About Our Department

The Beaumont Independent School District Police Department is a fully authorized agency by the State of Texas and Established by the Beaumont ISD School Board of Trustees in April of 2007.

The Department consists of 23 sworn peace officers, 2 license dispatchers, 2 civilian support staff, 26 Public Safety Officers, and 27 crossing guards who all fall under the direction of Police Chief Joseph S. Malbrough. All BISD Officers are licensed Police Officers by the State of Texas, under Texas Education Code, section – 37.081, and have the same powers, privileges and immunities as regular Peace Officers. Our Officers may enforce all local, state, and federal laws and may take a juvenile into custody. BISD officers are assigned to all Secondary campuses and conduct a periodic patrol of Elementary Schools and facilities throughout the District. Our Police and Public Safety Officers provide security coverage for a variety of services such as all Sporting events, Dances, Graduations, Board Meetings and many more other school functions as needed to ensure its public Safety.

 

Police Jurisdiction
The jurisdiction of Beaumont ISD Police Officers is all territory within the geographical boundaries of the District and all property, real and personal, outside the geographical boundaries of the District that is owned, leased, or rented by or otherwise under the District's control.
