About Mr. Kerry Rice
I am a class of 2000 graduate of Vidor High School. After graduation I went on to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and became a double major in Music Education and French. While at Sam Houston I was a member of the Sam Houston State University Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Bearkat Marching Band, and French Horn studio. Later, I decided to move back closer to home and transferred to Lamar University in Beaumont to finish my studies. While at Lamar, I was a member of the Lamar University Wind Ensemble and French Horn studio. While in college, I had the privilege of performing many venues, most notably the Texas Music Educator’s Association convention held in San Antonio, Texas as well as the Western International Music Conference held in Seattle, Washington.
In my career, I have served as the Orchestra Director at West Brook High School, beginning Band Director at DeQueen Elementary in Port Arthur, Director of Bands at Colmesneil ISD and am currently the Assistant Band Director here at Odom Academy.
Outside of school, I am very active in the local music community. I am very active as both a conductor and pit musician for Beaumont Community Players, Music Director and member of the Board of Directors for Lillard Farm Theatricals in Silsbee, and was the Music Director of the Southeast Texas Youth Symphony from 2009-2011.
I have been married to my amazing wife of twelve years, Courtney, who is also a history teacher and debate coach at Silsbee High School.
