Welcome from the Principal

  • Welcome to Dishman Elementary School. Each year it is wonderful to see the smiles of our returning staff and students and welcome those who are new to the Eagle Family. We’re expecting this year to be our best yet. The Eagle Staff is prepared and ready to engage your child and guide them through a successful school year.

Dishman Elementary has an average enrollment of 620 students. The student and staff demographics uniquely reflect the ethnic composition of our local community. We offer a variety of instructional programs designed to meet the individual needs of our students. The regular education program is the largest instructional program, which includes Dyslexia, ESL, and Gifted and Talented. The Special Education Program focuses on the unique needs of individual students with disabilities and provides classroom settings such as PPCD, Inclusion, and Academics for Life. The Dishman Elementary staff believes in academic excellence for every student.

Eagle parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s education. It is recommended that parents check their child’s folder daily and communicate with their teacher(s) regularly. Our district offers a Parent Self-Serve program which provides access to your child’s grades, attendance and classroom assignments. You can sign up at www.bmtisd.com.  Locate the Parent Self Serve link in the top right corner of the website. You may contact our office staff for assistance. We are available to help.

Learning is a top priority for our staff and students. Please work with us by ensuring your child gets a good night’s rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and comes to school on time each day. Our instructional day begins at 8:05 a.m. and students are considered tardy if they are not in their classrooms by this time. When possible, please schedule doctors’ appointments outside of the school day. If your child is absent, please send an excuse note with them on the day they return to school and check with your child’s teacher to make up any missed assignments. For the safety of our students, the front entrance doors are locked daily at 3:00 pm. We greatly appreciate your support in helping our school to run smoothly.

The Dishman family is extremely excited about the Dishman PTA and Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students). Please consider becoming a part of these organizations.

We look forward to working with you this school year. Thank you for trusting us with your children.

    Sincerely,
    Mellow Tatmon
