History
Roy H. Guess Elementary is located in the northern section of Beaumont, Texas. The school was first established as Voth-Rosedale School in 1938. The school retained this name after joining the Beaumont Independent School District in 1949. In 1959, the school’s name was changed in honor of Mr. Roy H. Guess, longtime principal and superintendent of the school. The old building was demolished in the summer of 1986. The new Roy Guess was dedicated in October, 1986. The present school houses approximately 650 students in grades Kdg. - 5th. The predominantly middle class neighborhood, which makes up the attendance zone, is a very active and concerned community. The Guess PTA strives for 100% membership. The staff of eighty employees works hard to meet the school district’s goals concerning the education of the students and strive for continual improvement in the educational standards as set by the district and the state. The principal and staff strive to meet the academic, as well as the social needs of each student.
