Miss Erica Jenkins

Greetings and Welcome to Music & Art Class at Martin Elementary! My name is Miss Jenkins and I am excited about being your Fine Arts teacher. 

I am a Houston, Texas native, by way of Lake Jackson, Texas where I was born and raised. I am a graduate of Lamar University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in Music. This marks my 18th year in education and I have been blessed to be a Fine Arts teacher all of those 18 years. I began my teaching career in Houston, where I taught for 8 years. Upon moving to the Southeast Texas, I taught in Port Arthur ISD for 2 years and have been at Martin Elementary for going on 8 years. 

As a Fine Arts teacher, it is my mission to work collaboratively with my colleagues and community to ignite student learning in both the arts and their core subject areas. It is my goal to share with everyone that I come in contact with that the arts is essential to a complete education that services the whole child. I believe it takes the whole school and whole community to build the whole child. As a skillful educator, it is not only my responsibility to educate my students but to also build relationships based on mutual respect and trust. By opening my heart and showing my students that I trust and care for them, they make every effort to meet my high expectations for them.
