Elementary Pegasus Program
Elementary Pegasus Program Overview
The Elementary Pegasus Program is designed for high-achieving students who demonstrate the ability to excel academically in an accelerated learning environment. This program provides a challenging curriculum tailored to meet the needs of students who consistently perform at an advanced level and exhibit strong motivation for learning.
Criteria for Application and Acceptance
To be considered for the Pegasus Program, students must meet the following requirements:
- High Academic Achievement – Candidates should demonstrate the ability to complete coursework at an accelerated pace while maintaining high academic standards.
- Intrinsic Motivation – Students should display a natural eagerness to learn and a strong commitment to academic success.
- Above-Average Performance – Consistently completing work at an advanced level is a key requirement for acceptance into the program.
- Independent Work Skills – The program is designed for students who can effectively complete assignments with minimal guidance.
- State Assessment Performance – Students must meet or exceed the Meets or Masters level on the 3rd Grade STAAR assessments in both Math and Reading Language Arts (RLA). Acceptance into the program is contingent upon these scores.
- Assessment Performance – In addition to STAAR scores, End of Year (EOY) assessment results in both Math and Reading will be considered in the selection process.
- Behavioral Expectations – A student should have few to no behavior referrals, demonstrating responsibility and respect in the classroom.
- Consistent Attendance – Regular attendance is essential for success in the program.
- Positive Recommendations – Recommendations from current teachers, counselors, campus administrators, and the principal will be reviewed to ensure the student is a strong candidate for the program.
Students who meet these qualifications will be given the opportunity to engage in an academically rigorous learning environment that nurtures their abilities and prepares them for continued success.

Middle School Pegasus & STEM Programs
The BISD Middle School Pegasus and STEM Programs challenge motivated learners with advanced coursework in literacy, math, science, and engineering design. Students engage in real-world problem solving through labs, robotics, coding, and collaborative projects that build creativity, communication, and leadership. Pegasus nurtures gifted and high-achieving scholars with accelerated instruction and enrichment. STEM deepens technical skills through inquiry, data analysis, and hands-on innovation.

Middle and High School Pre-Advanced Academics Program (Pre-AP)
The Pre-Advanced Academics Program prepares motivated students for the rigor of college-level study. Courses strengthen reading, writing, problem-solving, and analytical thinking so students are ready for Advanced Placement, dual credit, and advanced electives in high school and beyond.

High School Advanced Placement Program (AP)
High School Advanced Placement Program
Beaumont ISD values advanced academic coursework and encourages every student to graduate with at least one advanced academic credit. AP courses deliver college-level instruction and end with College Board AP Exams. Students who earn a qualifying score of 3, 4, or 5 may receive college credit.

AP success is a team effort among teachers, parents, and students. AP teachers in BISD commit to:

Teach the course using BISD curriculum as authorized by the College Board

Prepare students for the AP Exam and the next course in the sequence

Provide rigorous, high quality instruction with ample opportunities for success

Assign meaningful work aligned to required learning goals

Offer interventions and tutorials when students struggle

Encourage and communicate that students are required to take the AP Exam for the course

High School Dual Credit Program
High School Dual Credit Program
Offered in partnership with local colleges and universities, Dual Credit lets students earn college credit while meeting high school requirements. Courses are college-level and designed to challenge students with advanced reading, writing, and problem-solving. Success requires motivation, responsibility, and strong time management. Your college courses, grades, and credit hours become part of your permanent college transcript.

Requirements for Academic Dual Credit enrollment
Subject to change by TEA, THECB, LIT, and BISD.

Meet college placement requirements, including TSI, before enrolling in any Dual Credit class.
-
Pay all tuition and fees each semester and purchase required books and supplies by the LIT deadline.

Submit the BISD Dual Credit contract to the counseling office.
-
Score Meets or higher on required STAAR EOC exams.
-
Meet prerequisites: A in the regular course or B in a Pre-Advanced/AP course.
-
Earn an 80 or higher in college courses for them to count toward FHSP Performance Acknowledgement Honors.
-
Understand and follow the LIT FERPA policy.
-
Maintain a letter grade of C or higher in college courses to remain eligible.
-
Earning a D or F in any Dual Credit course results in permanent removal from the Dual Credit program.
Important transfer note
Each college or university decides whether to accept Dual Credit transfer grades and credits. Refer to the receiving institution’s catalog or website for details. Beaumont ISD is not responsible for a college’s acceptance of Dual Credit transfer courses.
