On February 25, 2016, Homer hosted an ALL-STAR Math Family Game Night in the cafeteria. Parents and students in grades 3-5 were able to sit and play games related to the skills taught in class. Not only did they play games, but they also created 3D shapes with toothpicks and marshmallows, then and discussed the attributes of the shapes. Parents received important STAAR testing information to keep them informed of the upcoming tests. Math games were given as door prizes and refreshments were served. "Parents enjoyed the quality time spent with their child while learning in a fun way," said Assistant Principal, Charisma Popillion. "Educators are always elated when parents visit the school and help us help the students understand the importance and prepare for the exam," Popillion added.
