The winning essay is below.

“My Future Academic Plans”

In my future life I plan to do many things dealing with my education, but as you know life doesn’t always go as planned. That’s why I have made two plans for my future education and lifestyle.

Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to help people in any way I could. Whether it was something simple or something very hard, I was always accessible. That’s why I based both of my future educational plans, on careers that I will be able to help people. These two careers are a doctor and engineer.

First of all I would like to be a doctor. The type of doctor I would like to study for is an obstetrician, which is a doctor who specializes in delivering babies. Why you may ask, well I simply just love babies and seeing the happiness on the patient’s face when they see their baby's face for the first time.

Another career I would like to study for is an electrical engineer.  I would like to study for this field because I feel that I will be successful at it. I have won many math awards ever since I was in the fifth grade, so I will be able to handle the math that it takes to be an electrical engineer. Also, this brings me back to the same reason as to why I want to study to be a doctor, which is to help people.

When I do these things I mentioned, I will have to remember where it all started from, my basic education. I always keep this quote in mind when I think about my future. “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.” If you love what you’re doing, you will be successful.
