BISD Campuses Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Beaumont Independent School District campuses will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with performances, activities, and in-classroom enrichment.  The focus of Hispanic Heritage Month is to highlight and increase awareness of the Hispanic community's contributions to the areas of science, fine-arts, technology, and many other areas.

By highlighting the contributions made by the Hispanic community, these activities will teach students that contributions to society can be made by anyone of any race, color, or creed.  

Activities around the district ( with more to be added as they become available):

 

Bingman Head Start

  • October 6 - Parade of Hispanic Cultures at 10:10am

 

Blanchette

  • September 15 - October 14 - Famous Hispanic American Highlights during morning announcements

  • September 19 - September 29 - Coloring Contest

  • October 3 - October 12 - Tour through Hispanic Culture with art, artifacts and music displayed in the hallways

  • October 13 - Hispanic Heritage Parade

  • October 13 - Hispanic Heritage Luncheon - Parents are invited to enjoy nachos with their students

  • October 14 - A Taste of Hispanic Cuisine

 

Caldwood

  • September 26 - October 14 - Notable Hispanic American Highlights during morning announcements

  • October 3 - Door Decorating Contest

  • October 14 - Hispanic Heritage Program at 2pm in the gym

 

Charlton-Pollard

  • September 26 - October 14 - Daily Hispanic Heritage Month announcements (history of the month, famous Hispanic short biographies)

  • September 26 - October 14 - Display of Hispanic Heritage banner, posters and literature around the campus throughout the month

  • October 13 - Hispanic Heritage Culture Parade at 9:30am (Traditional Dress by students and parents)

  • October 13 - Taste of Hispanic Heritage provided by cafeteria serving line during lunch for students; faculty Hispanic Heritage luncheon in the lounge during lunch periods

 

Dishman

  • October 7 - Hispanic Heritage Celebration at 2pm in the Cafetorium

 

Fehl-Price

  • September 26 - October 14 - Fun Fact per day in Englisha nd Spanish on Mornig Announcements

  • September 26 - September 30 - Art class activities like mini pinatas

  • September 15 - September 30 - Essay Contest; winner announced October 5

  • October 13 - Hispanic Heritage Luncheon

  • September 16 - Parade of Countries

  • October 7 - The Spanish and Dance departments will combine in a co-curricular cultural activity with emphasis on the "popular" Salsa dance in the boys and girls gym throughout 1st through 6th periods
