Central Graduate Makes His Mark on the Field

Central High School Graduate Derek Broussard currently holds the single season record for pass break-ups for his college football team - the Houston Baptist Huskies.

The 2014 BISD alum graduated in 3 years from Central at the top of his class and was the youngest player, at age 17, to earn a Division 1 scholarship in both football and academics for the Southland Conference.  He now not only holds it down on the playing field, but continues his academic success and has been selected to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll for his grades (3.00 GPA+) the past two playing seasons and is looking to cap off a third honor in his junior year at the university. During the off season Broussard volunteers with organizations at the university and works at HEB.
