Jones-Clark Students Learn About Science with Ice Cream
Jones-Clark Elementary students enjoyed a sweet treat while learning about science January 20, 2017. Sub Zero Ice Cream and Yogurt demonstrated how liquid nitrogen can be harnessed to freeze fresh ingredients into ice cream. “Students learned the process and were entertained with billows of non-toxic nitrogen ‘smoke’,” explained Jones-Clark Curriculum Coordinator Shana Carr. “Concepts such as the elemental properties of nitrogen, gas laws, the Leidenfrost Effect and the application of science to food were discussed as well”. There were three presentations with students eating the fruits of their academic labors with ice cream samples and a magic spoon.
