ECHS Students Advance to State National History Day Competition
Beaumont Early College High School (ECHS) participated in the eighth annual regional Texas History Day competition at Lamar University February 16, 2017. Students spent the year researching topics on the 2017 theme, Taking a Stand in History.
“We are very proud of the students and their hard work. They started research in October and worked for four months putting together projects to present to Lamar's judges,” said ECHS Social Studies/AP Human Geography teacher Melanie Pharis. “Their diligence was rewarded with advancement to the state competition and we look forward to continued success on our campus and for our students.”
Of the 18 students that entered the competition, 14 advanced to the state National History Day Competition in Austin, Texas April 29, 2017. They will compete for a chance to attend the national competition in Maryland. Students that advanced were:

ECHS is a brand new campus in Beaumont ISD that began August 2016. Applications from 8th-grade students are being accepted now for the 2017-2018 school year. Deadline to apply is March 1, 2017.
