West Brook Juniors Receive Scholarships

West Brook High School Juniors Anna Norma and David Williams were awarded $40,000 scholarships for the Wells College 21st Century Leadership Award. According to Wells College, these exemplary students demonstrated the qualities of leadership and community service. The award is based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and community services. Norma and Williams have demonstrated the characteristics of ethical leadership and show trustworthiness, self-confidence and intellect.  

Junior Brianna Vaglica was awarded the prestigious Carson Scholars Award. Every year, the Carson Scholars Fund receives applications from students throughout the nation. Applicants are nominated by their school based on their high academic achievement and commitment to their communities. According to the Carson Scholars Fund, they are continually impressed by the quality of applications they receive each year. In their opinion, the 2017 class of Carson Scholars stand out even more. The scholarship committee said their compassion for others, dedication to making a difference, and vision for the future is inspiring. The Carson Scholars Fund named 483 students from across the country. With this honor, they will each receive a $1,000 college scholarship and recognition package.
