BISD Students Paint with a Purpose

Youth Leadership Southeast Texas (Y-LSET) participants representing Central High School and Beaumont Early College High School (ECHS) participated in the Painting for a Purpose project benefiting Girls’ Haven on February 24. “Students helped raise money to purchase paint supplies and bedding for the girls’ bedrooms at Girls’ Haven,” said LSET representative Deborah Drago. “In addition, they volunteered their time over a weekend to prep and paint the rooms to provide a clean, updated look for the residents. The students were respectful and a tremendous help.”

Girls’ Haven provides a safe and nurturing group home for girls ranging in age from 6 to 21 that are survivors of homelessness, physical and sexual abuse and severe family dysfunction. James Girard is the Y-LSET sponsor for ECHS and Marilyn Stephens for Central.
