Growing Pumpkins at Bingman
Students are watching pumpkins grow as part of a fun experiment at Bingman Head Start.
Instructional Coach LaKeisha Carter explained that the project was very simple. Students in Lori Thompson and Kelli LaDay’s classrooms got some pumpkins and cut the top off. They did not take out the guts, but left everything inside. After adding dirt, it was time to watch them grow.
Along with assistants Juanita Hernandez and Crystal Allison, students were excited to see the pumpkins grow so quickly in just a few weeks. “They have been very responsible for watering the pumpkins,” said Carter. “Our students have been excited to see them grow. It was a great way for them to learn about a plant’s life cycle.”
