Beaumont ISD and the Southeast Texas Food Bank have partnered to distribute food and children’s books to area apartment complexes. Administrators visited the north end of Beaumont with stops at Autumn Oaks and Northridge Manor on October 23, 2021.
With generous donations from the food bank, over 100 residents were able to receive non-perishable food boxes, books and snacks.
“It is always a great day when we can connect with our students and stakeholders,” said Jenny Angelo, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “We met a fifth-grader from PLA @ Jones-Clark who proudly told us he loves to read and is already reading on a seventh-grade level! He had a blast selecting books for his home library.”
More visits will be scheduled and coordinated with area apartment complexes as resources become available through the food bank. The food distribution is only for apartment residents with one allotment per apartment; no drive-ups.
