BU Students Gain Exposure to Military Aircrafts

The US Army visited Beaumont United to allow students to engage with an air rescue simulator and learn about military opportunities.

“Exposure to these types of experiences gives students out-of-the-box learning opportunities to explore atypical careers that are available to them after high school graduation,” said Olivia Douglas, College, Career and Military Readiness Coordinator.

The aircraft simulators allow students to fly, use weapons and encounter the same experiences as soldiers through virtual reality devices.

“Students were amazed at how much skill was required to be an effective pilot in stressful situations,” said Douglas. “They were eager to learn more and are looking forward to more hands-on learning experiences with our military.”

In addition to the simulator, a US Army Education Specialist was in attendance to speak to seniors about the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
