Marshall Recognizes Beaumont First Responders

Marshall Middle School Student Council delivered baskets of goodies to first responders around Beaumont in honor of National First Responders Day.

The baskets were filled with packages of cookies, crackers, water, nuts, pens, notepads and candy along with cards showing appreciation. Students donated all the supplies and made 31 baskets to deliver to fire stations, the police station and the Army National Guard Armory.

“It meant so much to me for them to come by our department and show how much our service is appreciated,” said Fire Chief Earl White. “They were a wonderful group of students.”

The class began this tradition five years ago, calling it Cookies for Courage.

“One of our former leadership students came up with the idea and we have just improved upon it each year,” said Rebeckah Sims, Student Council Advisor. “ We had a wonderful experience. Each stop was filled with gratitude for the service these first responders provide.”

“All the first responders were so nice and appreciative and took their time to show us around and explain what their days are like. We learned so much,” said eighth-grader Stella Worley. “We even got to see the firemen in action as they received a call and had to leave while we were there."
