Beaumont ISD FFA welcomes elementary students to the FFA Reading Buddies Program beginning November 30 at the Theodore Johns Public Library.

“Dr. Allen has encouraged us all to help improve our student's reading skills and I can think of no better way to do so for both the attendees and the FFA members,” said Stephanie Hoppe, FFA teacher. “The young people coming to attend the event are getting interaction with student leaders and exposure to the Beaumont FFA Program, as well as making reading fun and important for the younger kids which, as we know, is very important for BISD students.”

After an introduction of the officers, FFA members will break off the children into small groups to read to and with them. Each student will leave with a goodie bag.

The FFA Officers are required to plan a Program of Activities each year for the chapter. Beaumont FFA Sentinel Alejandra Lara took the lead on this project and has successfully worked with the library to make the program happen.

“Alejandra did an outstanding job of leading this initiative,” said Hoppe. “The hope is to make this a monthly activity for the chapter and children that attend. I am proud that our members are in the community giving back in a positive way to the young people in their own neighborhoods.”
