Early College High School students are sharpening STAAR math skills with a fast food favorite.

At “Mathdonald’s,” math teachers and tutors set up stations to teach a different section of the math STAAR test. A representative from Gulf Credit Union was also present to educate parents on financial assistance.

“The twist is that each section has a McDonald’s menu item partnered with it,” said Camille Norwood, Parent Liaison. “For example, Parallel-Perpendicular Parfet and Solving Equations Happy Meals. I wanted our students to learn math STAAR in an exciting way and, with these teenagers, food is always a fun way to learn and a bargaining tool.”

The Mathdonald’s experience has also been featured at several other campuses.

“Thank you to our business partner McDonald’s for giving a delicious incentive for STAAR review,” said Norwood.
