BISD Recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In October, Beaumont ISD will “think pink” in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Activities will be ongoing throughout the District and at individual campuses.

Dishman, Fletcher and Martin Elementary students plan to wear pink each Thursday to help raise awareness; Pietzsch-MacArthur will wear pink on Fridays. Jones-Clark will have a pink-out day on October 29. Fletcher will host a Zoom read-a-loud each Thursday at 6 p.m. with students reading pink-themed stories such as “Pinkalicious.”

The Gift of Life program is painting the town pink and teal with huge ribbons displayed at area businesses around the city. The American Cancer Society will host a Pink Power Cruise on October 24, with decorated vehicles driving around Lamar University’s Montagne Center parking lot at 9 a.m.

The district is participating in “Think Pink” to raise awareness, remember those currently going through treatment, those who have survived and those who have been taken by the disease.
