Volunteers Needed to Virtually ROAR
The Beaumont ISD ROAR Community Reading Partnership is looking for volunteers to collaborate with students to improve their reading and comprehension skills.
The District is asking for companies, community organizations, campus organizations, retirees, parents, grandparents and any individuals who would be willing to give 30-45 minutes of their time being read to and helping to improve the reading skills of BISD students.
With safety guidelines and new protocols in place to keep students safe, the program will be held virtually this year via Zoom meetings. Virtual training sessions for ROAR volunteers are being scheduled starting mid-November in 30-45 minute Zoom sessions.
The goal of the ROAR program is to have all BISD second-graders reading at or above grade level by the end of the year by pairing them with volunteers who will assist them in improving their reading skills. BISD, in partnership with our community, wishes to instill a love of reading at an early age and provide them with positive attention and learning outcomes.
