Beaumont Children’s Museum Donates STEAM Kits
The Beaumont Children’s Museum is donating STEAM kits filled with hands-on activities to Beaumont ISD second-graders.
“With field trips being removed due to the pandemic, the museum used grant money from the Foundation of Southeast Texas, T-Mobile Metro and BASF to create classroom STEAM kits,” said Executive Director Amanda Yarbrough. “Our goal is to make sure that every second-grade classroom in Beaumont ISD has a STEAM kit and virtual experience with the museum this year at no cost.”
Kits are currently being distributed to both on-campus and virtual learning students. Some items are part of a classroom incentive that will stay with the teacher.
“We are providing teachers with a virtual lesson to walk them through their STEAM kits,” said Museum Education Coordinator Ellen Wiemers. “We can’t wait to get these lessons into the hands of the students. The museum is working hard to bring more exciting opportunities to each of our classrooms.”
