Lucas Students Receive Bikes from Academy

Academy Sports + Outdoors Beaumont got into the holiday spirit by donating $2,000 to deserving families at Lucas Pre-K Center. Campus administrators used the generous gift to purchase 37 bikes for their students.

A $2,000 Academy gift card from the corporate office was granted to Lucas Pre-K Center in November. After connecting with the Beaumont store, they donated funds to buy bikes as a student incentive reward

On December 8, 2020, Academy Beaumont store manager Chris Edwards delivered the bikes to the campus and was on hand for a check presentation on the front lawn with principal Mellow Tatmon and her staff.

“Academy is proud to be a part of this community. When we have the opportunity to give back, it means everything to us,” said Edwards. “I am so appreciative of my company. We are as blessed as these children are.”

Virtual and on-campus students who had perfect attendance for the first nine-week grading period earned a spot in a drawing. Thirty-seven were chosen and surprised with a brand new bike.

“We appreciate the generous donation from Academy. During these difficult times, it’s important to reward students who engage in class every day, on-campus, and virtually,” said Tatmon. “We know times are difficult. We care, we see, and we recognize our students' hard work. For Academy to take the time to show our community that they care is amazing. We appreciate them for making this possible.”
