Expressing Artistic Talent Leads to State Contest

Five Beaumont ISD secondary students participated at the state level in the Texas PTA Reflections contest.

Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for over 50 years. Through the efforts of local PTA’s, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.

The Texas PTA received nearly 850 entries for state-level judging and over 500 students were awarded. “We are always amazed at the creativity and mastery that students show year after year,” said Texas PTA Reflections Liaison Risa Ginther. “We thank all participating students for their outstanding work that truly showcased this year’s theme.”

“With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story,” said Ginther.

Reflections has grown to be one of the largest nationwide programs of its kind, with more than 200,000 students participating annually. The following Region 5 students won at the regional level and advanced to the state-level judging to receive the following:
