Recognition of Excellence

The dedication of a Beaumont United High School teacher is being recognized by a Houston-based organization committed to promoting a society free from economic inequality. Porchea Carr has been selected as one of the recipients of the prestigious "TBE Excellence in Education Award" by the Texas Black Expo (TBE). This award highlights Carr's exceptional achievements and unwavering commitment to education, identifying her as an exemplary leader in her field.

With a diverse business and curriculum development background, Carr brings more than 12 years of experience to her role as a Practicum in Business Management teacher at Beaumont United High School. Transitioning seamlessly from a successful career in retail brand management, Carr has demonstrated remarkable versatility and leadership in her journey through education.

"I am deeply honored to receive this prestigious award from the Texas Black Expo," said Carr. "Education is the key to unlocking limitless potential, and I am grateful for the opportunity to empower students to think critically, dream boldly, and act courageously as they navigate their journey into the real world."

In celebration of her outstanding contributions, Carr has been invited to attend the Corporate Awards Luncheon and Excellence in Education Event hosted by the Texas Black Expo on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the J.W. Marriott in Houston, TX. As a distinguished honoree, Carr will receive complimentary admission to these events and is invited to a private reception featuring Pro Football Hall of Famer and ESPN Correspondent Shannon Sharpe as the keynote speaker.

This is not the first time Carr's passion and commitment to teaching have been acknowledged. She was honored as the Beaumont Independent School District’s Campus Teacher of the Year in 2023 (Beaumont United), a Reaud Excellence in Education nominee in 2023, and a recipient of the Marriott Grant Foundation in the same year. This latest accolade is a testament to Carr’s continued devotion, guidance, and positive impact in Beaumont ISD.
