Problem Solved!

Four Beaumont ISD schools competed on April 13, 2024 at the Future Problem Solving State Bowl in Waco, Texas,  and enjoyed a very successful weekend.  In the elementary category, BISD was represented by Regina Howell Elementary. Coach Chasetie Malloy allowed each team to choose their name. The Thunder Hooves, composed of 5th graders Hudson Flores, Michael Guo, Bisargo Das and Shiv Patel placed 1st in the novice category.  The Elements, made up of 4th graders Ethan Doyle, Thomas He, Henry Allen and Musa Fouad, placed 2nd in the novice division. The Fantastic Four comprised of 5th graders Bridget Pearson, Patricia Vega Colon, Shaan Patel and Ishaan Paur, all placed 5th overall in the novice division and were also awarded Most Futuristic.

Marshall Middle School and Odom Academy represented the district in the middle school division.  Marshall 8th grader Clemson Henderson won Most Futuristic in the individual category. He is coached by Mary Salyers Bean. The Odom Team is coached by Joshua Windham and Joseph Perez, and three of their teams placed in the top 10.  

West Brook High School, coached by Nicole Tarabay, had three teams qualify for the International Bowl which will be held in Bloomington, Indiana, in June. In the Middle Division, which is made up of 9th graders, the team of Sydney Limbrick, Joy Li, Aiden Ma, and Andrea Tinetti placed 2nd, and the team of Stella Worley, Selasie Doe, Tina Huynh, and Matthew Din placed 4th. Ninth grader Gabriella De la Madrid, placed 4th in the Middle Individual division. In the Senior Division, the team of Joshua Pierce, Lucian Hall, Brody Ramirez and Cody Yang placed third.  Out of a field of 142 teams, West Brook took three spots out of the ten that qualified to represent Texas at the International Bowl.
