Peace Out: Banquet Honors BISD Retirees Class of 2024

They have worked a combined total of 985 years at Beaumont ISD, and have decided enough is enough! 48 District employees were recognized for their years of service at the BISD 2024 Retirement Banquet. The event, held Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the MCM Elegante, was hosted by the Department of Human Resources and included dinner, awards, and entertainment from saxophonist Perry Richard. 

“You’re leaving here as quitters,” joked Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shannon Allen in remarks to the now former employees. “We are not happy for you,” she continued as a chorus of laughter filled the hotel ballroom.

The longest serving employees of the group each worked 39 years at BISD. Deborah DuBose (Guess Elementary) began her employment with the District on September 16, 1985, while Janice Isedore (Guess Elementary) joined the team 33 days later, on October 19, 1985.

Executive Director of Human Resources Derwin Samuels encouraged the retirees to consider substitute teaching with the District, a comment which also drew laughter from the audience. 

Beaumont ISD wishes each retiree a relaxing and joyful next chapter, but the District will keep its arms open to any of them who wishes to return!
