Science in Action at Lucas Pre-K Center
Students at Lucas Pre-K Center are embracing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) at an early age with ‘Science in Action,’ which involves children using their senses to explore the world around them.
Once a week, students visit the Lucas STEAM Lab for a hands-on science learning experience. “We are inspiring future generations of scientists,” said Lucas STEAM lab teacher Charla Bergeron.
A recent activity involved exploring Earth materials and learning about geologists. Students examined rock collections with magnifying glasses and sorted collections of rocks.
Future projects include making homemade applesauce, mixing colors, construction, making recycled paper, measuring weather, graphing and observing life cycles.
