The Dynamic Step Majorettes of Beaumont United High School recently competed in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) band competition at Port Neches-Groves High School, earning Superior and Excellent ratings.
Freshman Akiera LeDee and sophomore Tatiana Sanders each competed as a soloist and received a Superior rating, which is the highest you can achieve in the UIL. LeDee and Sanders, along with freshman Keelie Compton, competed as a trio group and earned an Excellent rating.
“The UIL competition was the first time for all three students to compete,” said Twirling/Flag Instructor Brittany Guillory. “The girls have worked hard and practice after school for two hours, Monday-Thursday.” Both soloists qualified to advance to the state UIL competition in Austin this spring. Not only are the Dynamic Step Majorettes the only twirling team in Beaumont ISD but they are also the only team to qualify for state from the District.
