BISD Life Skills Students Take Part in Mostyn Moreno Program
The Mostyn Moreno Educational Foundation brought smiles to the faces of many students enrolled in the Beaumont ISD life skills program. Elementary children received a donation of $50 to spend at Walmart and were treated to lunch at the MCM Elegante’ Hotel on December 6 and secondary students on December 7.
The annual Christmas Lights Program was created to facilitate the ability of children with special needs to gain useful experience in demonstrating skills learned in the classroom. The Foundation provides an educational experience outside of the classroom and an opportunity to use the skills they have learned while celebrating the holiday season in the company of their teachers and families. Unlike other programs that solicit toys to give to children in need, The Christmas Lights program allows children with special needs to select their own gifts while using critical skills taught by their teachers.
