BISD Seeks Community Input on Textbook Adoption

Educators across the state of Texas are looking to adopt new textbooks and resources for English, language arts, reading, spelling, handwriting and personal finance literacy for kindergarten through 12th-grade. The Beaumont ISD Adoption Committee cordially invites the community to visit with vendors and gain valuable resources 5-7 p.m. January 17 at the BISD Annex Gym, located at 4315 Concord Road.

Publishers will exhibit materials that are considered for adoption and families and educators will have the opportunity to meet with the top three vendors as determined by the adoption committee. Vendors under consideration include McGraw Hill, Houghton Mifflin, Pearsons, Handwriting Without Tears, Universal Handwriting and Zaner-Bloser.

To ensure that everyone has a hand in the adoption process, parents will be given the opportunity to review the new materials and have their questions answered, especially regarding how the new TEKS will be addressed, and implemented in classrooms.
