BISD Recognizes Partners in Education
Top volunteers, foster grandparents and business partners were celebrated at the annual luncheon for their dedication and service to the District.
The event featured a video spotlighting collaborations between Manning’s Office Solutions and Homer Drive, Mobiloil Credit Union and Vincent, Lamar Institute of Technology and Early College High School and Lamar University (LU) with Pietzsch-MacArthur. “We look forward to our next steps in supporting the success being achieved by the amazing students and the outstanding and innovative leadership of Principal Audrey Collins,” said LU Special Assistant to the Dean for CoEdHD Dr. Teresa Simpson.
Superintendent Dr. Shannon Allen extended a special thank you to each of the volunteers and business partners for the amazing work they do and the tremendous value they add to BISD schools. “All of the money in the world could not replace what you do for our kids through your time, positive energy, encouragement and simple kindness,” said Allen. “It takes special individuals to serve with no expectations for return.”
The late Rico Keeling, a volunteer from Gulf Coast, was recognized for his contribution to the ROAR program and his wife Bethany Cherry Keeling accepted a plaque in his honor. Entertainment was provided by the Lucas Pre-K Center Cheer Squad and Odom Academy Jazz Cats Band.
