Beaumont United Job's For America's Graduates (JAG) students delved into the significance and origin of many historic sites located throughout the capitol of Texas.
The tour included sculptures from 1905 of Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston, paintings of David Crockett, Stephen F. Austin and the surrender of General Santa Anna at San Jacinto and more. Students saw pictures of all the Texas House of Representatives throughout the years and went inside the chamber.
“This trip gives us great pride in our state,” said student Lance Haynes. “We gained an exceptional amount of knowledge about our culture and history to lead us to move forward as young Texas citizens.”
