Tea Time With Mom
In celebration of Mother’s Day, Lucas Pre-K Center and Vincent Middle school collaborated to host their annual Mother and Daughter Tea. Students and the special ladies in their life dressed to impress in dresses, hats and gloves for an evening of entertainment.
“The goal of the event is to have our young girls understand that they will be our leaders,” said event organizer Veronica Lockett. “We want to stress the importance of learning to read, communication and helping others by being positive examples. Having mothers there shows that they have a support system and that their mothers have to be positive examples as well.”
Entertainment spanned from a student poetry reading, guest speakers Shundria Walker-Jackson and daughter Kynnedi Jackson, a fashion show, dance and choir performances, door prizes and more.
“We want to show positive examples in another light outside of school hours,” said Lockett. “We too are women, mothers, and daughters and we want them to be able to shine!”
